Last Wednesday, I came down with what I initially thought was a plain old cold. Felt really lousy by the time I got home from work, so I basically went to bed right after supper, hoping to sleep the darn thing off. By the time morning arrived, it was pretty obvious that hadn't worked (I went from chills to sweating like I was in a sauna). Since I was supposed to be meeting my supervisor at a remote location, I managed to drag myself off to work. Got the remote location stuff done & went home at noon, with my boss's blessing (she sure didn't want to catch whatever I had). Got home, ate lunch, went to bed. Slept off and on all afternoon, evening, and night. Fever, chills, sore throat, earache, runny nose, and, by morning, a cough too. Called in sick (first full sick day in the six years I've worked at my current place of employment) and headed off to the clinic. Two hours after I walked in the doors, I walked out with antibiotics, a nasal spray, and Advil Cold & Sinus. Went home, went back to bed. Spent most of the weekend sleeping or trying (with absolutely no success whatsoever) to concentrate enough to write. Back at work today; hopefully I can make it all day without a nap.

I hate taking antibiotics - the side effects (nausea, lightheadedness, sleepiness) are almost as bad as whatever I'm taking them for.

Whatever it is, it seems to be going round, world-wide. I've had it, my sister had it, my friend's getting it, half the kids (and teachers) at my daughter's school have it, and it seems whoever I talk to has it, or is just getting over it.

Hope you feel better again, soon! Snuggle down, sleep as much as you can, read some nice ficcies and just take care of yourself.

Thanks, I'm starting to feel better. My concentration is still not good, which means that writing is an exercise in frustration, but at least I don't fall asleep every time I sit still for a few minutes.

Glad to hear you're feeling much better. I know how exhausting something like this can be. And it's *definitely* going round. My friend got it, and today my massage therapist (that makes house-visits - very useful that...) called and cancelled our session because he's sick in bed...

Take care of yourself. Make sure you get help and pampering and don't worry about writing and stuff. Health is more important.
