Argh. Well, I didn't get nearly as much done this weekend as planned. Over half of Saturday was spent at a parade. We had to be there an hour before step-off time but in order to get both the trailer that we haul the wagon on and the horse trailer to end of the parade route ahead of time, we had to be there even earlier. We unloaded the wagon at the starting point, took both vehicles and trailers to the end of the route, left the flatbed trailer and its tow vehicle there, then went back to the starting point to unload the horse. Decorated horse and wagon, hitched up, then two of us took the horse and got in the parade line-up while the other person took the truck and horse trailer to the end of the route. The parade was long and late starting, the horse acted up a few times because the parade kept stopping and starting (and it was all up and down hill, not on the level), and we didn't get home till after noon. Then we still had to unpack everything. Why do we *do* this to ourselves? *groan*

Then this afternoon was lost to a family birthday party where the kids got so many presents it looked like Christmas. Of course, they *were* celebrating three birthdays at once (twins and their older brother) - but there were still an *awful* lot of gifts. I thought they were never going to get done so I could politely leave. Three hours was a good hour longer than I'd wanted to be there. They're my family and I love'em dearly but I am not a kid-person (till they're old enough to wipe both ends for themselves, I'd prefer them at a distance - after that, I can handle them in small doses). Heck, I'm not particularly a people-person; I like my solitude. Two three-year-olds, a six-year-old, and a 12-year-old plus a 14-year-old, a barky dog, and eleven adults in one cramped house do not make me a happy camper.

So - not a particularly productive weekend for me. Lots of grudgingly lost time.

But on the upside, I did get those contest nominations posted on my LJ yesterday and there's a few more updates to be posted yet. I'll do them tomorrow when I finish getting my site updates ready. And I did get some writing done this weekend, both on GW fics and on a Sentinel one that's seriously outgrown my original intentions - that's actually what delayed getting the site updates done. I'll hopefully have some new ficcage ready to post in a day or two. *crosses fingers*

Umm, if you've e-mailed me and I haven't gotten back to you yet - apologies, I'll try to get to it once I finish up with the site updates. So - tomorrow or maybe Tuesday. Hopefully no later than that.

*laughs*

My daughter's birthday is while I'm still away on my trip, so I'll have to do the party stuff when I'm back - oh joys... 10 kids this year - because she's gonna be ten... *sigh*

Oh, CalicO...
Take your time with my GW fic... I'm away all of September, so I won't be able to read it until I'm back... I have no hurry with it... :)

Oh my - bet you're really looking forward to her sixteenth, huh? *grin*

*whew* Okay, that's good 'cause both of the auction fics are ending up *way* longer than expected and I've been trying to write a couple of GW contest fics plus a Sentinel one for a zine at the same time. Guess I need to take a break from all of those and try to get some Kindgarten Heero or LWH out sometime soon...

*g*

She's allowed to invite one kid for each year that she's gotten older. So... yes, this year we'll have 10 +1 = 11...

Insane? Ask me *after* the party is over *g*

Yep, children's birthday parties - such joy for adults. :P

Unfortunately, one can only dodge so many family gatherings in favour of staying home in front of the computer before one's immediate family begins mumbling things like "addiction"... *sigh*

It's gotten to the point where I can't hardly get on the stupid system if anyone else is around or I get... 'The Look'. ~_~

Believe me, you have my deepest sympathy. I've been getting enough of those looks to make me a bit paranoid. Once I got my new laptop, I switched to actually using a password and setting the screensaver to require a password on resume. I really don't want someone getting nosy and poking around my hard drive to try and figure out what exactly I spend so much time doing on the computer. *sweatdrops*

Ooooh. Yeah. All files are password protected. The laptop is password protected. Screen saver is password protected. And I never get up and walk away from it without locking it first anyway. Paranoid isn't the half of it. ^^;
