I am - err, *speechless* - after seeing this. For those not familiar with the background, Linspire is the new name of Lindows (since they settled out of court with Microsoft and gave up the Lindows name in exchange for a rather hefty payoff - despite the fact that copyright law seemed to be leaning in their favour rather than that of MS). This, however, is just - bizarre.

I mean, if it's viewed as purely a parody of the sort of advertising that Microsoft likes to indulge in, then it's amusing. But on the other hand, if it's meant to be a serious advertisement for Linspire as a representative of the Linux OS... *cringes*

*snicker* Ok... it's bad, but it did make me grin once or twice. It's really too long to be a legit ad. And I'm not sure they could actually get away with using Bill Gates actual imagine like that... could it just be like a fan-made thing?

It is, if nothing else, amusing. Though really, it's just that teensy bit too long to be as entertaining as it could have been, I think. And while I'd agree that it's too long to be a legit ad, I could see it being run on laptop screens at trade shows or something like that. I'm not too sure about the Bill Gates images - there's some grey areas where "celebrity" and "public figure" images are concerned, I think. It could very well be fan-made though it *is* hosted on Linspire's own site (but I couldn't seem to track down how to get to it by browsing through the site).

Thanks for the link. I'm guessing the little movie is a bit of both. If it gets them sales, good. Otherwise, it serves to poke fun at Bill Gates like there's no tomorrow. Poor guy. lol. probably made by a linux nut with an odd sense of humor.
