Still not completely over the cough-and-cold, though I'm doing somewhat better in the sense of not feeling as totally lousy. But my freetime is going to take another big hit thanks to RL.

My bedroom is carpeted - 20+ year old carpeting. I've been talking about ripping it out and having either hardwood or wood laminate installed for a few years now and the time has finally arrived. Except that the room is about due to be painted again, so it only makes sense to paint it first. And I want to replace the light fixture with a ceiling fan to help with air circulation in the summer (we don't have central air, just window fans). So this weekend is dedicated to emptying my very full room. Then the week will be spent painting and getting flooring quotes and so on. If anyone has any experience with either the wood laminate or hardwood flooring (pros and cons), I'd love to hear about it since I haven't reached a decision which route I'm taking yet. Whatever I have installed will have to stand up to a dog running around on it (just a Sheltie, she weighs less than 25 lbs but her nails tend to be long - they bleed if I try to cut them as short as they "should" be, meaning short enough not to click so loudly and scratch so badly).

Assuming I have any free time at all this weekend, there should be a new LWH at some point plus a website update - I've got a *ton* of guest fic updates to take care of...

From what I know, neither wood laminate nor hardwood flooring is very durable when it comes to dogs. Well, it can be if you put all your time and effort into the upkeep. What our neighbors did was find ceramic tile printed to look like a board of wood, like with actual wood floors. Unless you know that it was tile, it's hard to tell the difference and it's really easy to take care of.

Don't know much about hardwood floors other than they're cold! ^__~ Though I thought there was something out on the market now that isn't wood, but you can't tell it's not wood. It's supposed to be a whole lot more durable than the wood flooring, but I don't know a lot else about it.
Glad you seem to be on the mend; we've missed you! *hugs*
