I want a do-over...

calic0cat...of the past couple of weeks. I've accomplished absolutely nothing, yet seem to have spent all my time being very busy with one stupid little thing after another. And then, today, the power went out at work before lunch, and never came back on again till half an hour before quitting time. Instead of spending the afternoon doing the umpteen dozen computer-related things on my "To-do Yesterday" list (because that would, like, require electricity, y'know), I spent it cleaning out and tidying up cupboards and desk drawers in the semi-dark, because the office is in the building's basement and there are, like, no freaking windows, and the building's backup generators only power minimal emergency lighting - just enough to supposedly be able to function and therefore mean that the boss didn't have to send us all home. Argh!!
And then I turned my computer on after the power did finally come back on, and it came up with a boot device error. Again. Last time, Dell replaced the motherboard. This time, judging by the diagnostics I had the stupid thing running, it looks like the hard drive might be kaput. The data should be safe - thank god for network backups - but I'll have to reinstall everything; the very thought makes me exhausted. :P I do not have time for this crap.
And on top of that, I've discovered that the eFiction upgrade that looked okay initially apparently didn't successfully transfer all of the chapters of all of the stories, so now I have to either re-upload what's missing, or re-do the upgrade and hope it works properly this time, or... or... or something...*sigh* Sorry, folks, no fiction ready to post, and unless I shake off this feeling of being (a) exhausted, and (b) utterly cursed, I probably won't have anything ready for a while yet.
And, oh joy of joys, I get to go waste tomorrow afternoon at a technical committee meeting. Individuals A, B, and C will spend the whole time rehashing some stupid little detail from last month's meeting, Individual D will spend the whole time trying to show everyone just how incredibly well he knows the technical terminology for every item on the agenda (and quite a few that aren't), Individuals A, C, D, and E will spend half the meeting poking at their Blackberries in an attempt to show just how very busy and important they are, and I'll spend the whole time wishing I was back at the office getting some actual work done and trying not to just fall asleep. :P

This grants me an inordinate amount of affection for the work you put in there. I'll wait as long as it takes, dear. The rest of the fen can go gnash their teeth in the corner or something, if they're upset with you at all. Which I doubt.
So no worries, no problems. Get to it when you can.
