Good grief. Just when you think that the music industry couldn't possibly get any more absurd than it already is over the subject of digital rights management, Sony goes and does this. Uh, yeah. Like I really intend to let a music company install a hacker's favourite tool on my PC. No, thanks, Sony. Guess I won't be buying any Sony BMG-produced CDs in the foreseeable future. Heck, I may not be buying any Sony products. Any company stupid and arrogant enough to pull this kind of move deserves to be boycotted into bankruptcy. :P

Well, at least it gives more a good reason to resist the PSP. :D

I suppose... But geesh, is this ever a scary trend... Hope nobody else follows in Sony's footsteps. :P

Sony BMG can kiss my computer. I have enough trouble keeping viruses and trojans out of my computer as it is. If they have their way we might as well just lay down in the middle of the road naked and scream rape me.

What next?

At first, I thought that the whole thing had to be some sort of joke, it was so absurd. But after checking into it further, it was pretty clear that, nope, no joke.

What next?

I dunno if we even want to ask that question... Isn't it kind of like challenging the power of "worse" by asking "How can things get any worse"? :P

The arrogance and stupidity of the music industry never fails to astonish me, and not in a good way...

Thanks for the heads up. I made an entry of my own linking to that article. The more who know, the better. I'm going to be getting my music from Universal and Warner, unless I hear they're stupid enough to try the same thing. Chances are, they'll be smart enough to catch the sudden windfall Sony's given them.

Oh yes, definitely! If consumers don't stand up to the music industry on this one, I shudder to think what would come next. Hopefully, the backlash on Sony will be powerful enough to make all the other companies think twice if they've been considering anything similar. *crosses fingers*

A nice little class action lawsuit for installing spyware might make a good start...

Well. O.O That's... interesting. Guess I'll be paying a bit more attention to who is producing the CDs I buy, and guess who won't be getting my business? Thanks for pointing this out.

I couldn't believe it the first time that I read the article. Once it sank in just what was going on and that it wasn't just some prank, I figured that the more people who heard about it, the better.

As if it wasn't hard enough to keep the spyware and trojans off of PCs... :P

Oh yeah, spyware is probably half of what I do at work anymore. ~_~ And did you see that one quote from the CEO of Sony about how he couldn't see why people would worry about something when they probably didn't even know what it was? O.o Unbelievable!
