Music CDs that root-kit your PC??!!
Nov. 5th, 2005 07:09 pmGood grief. Just when you think that the music industry couldn't possibly get any more absurd than it already is over the subject of digital rights management, Sony goes and does this. Uh, yeah. Like I really intend to let a music company install a hacker's favourite tool on my PC. No, thanks, Sony. Guess I won't be buying any Sony BMG-produced CDs in the foreseeable future. Heck, I may not be buying any Sony products. Any company stupid and arrogant enough to pull this kind of move deserves to be boycotted into bankruptcy. :P

I dunno if we even want to ask that question... Isn't it kind of like challenging the power of "worse" by asking "How can things get any worse"? :P
The arrogance and stupidity of the music industry never fails to astonish me, and not in a good way...

Date: 2005-11-06 04:21 pm (UTC)Oh yes, definitely! If consumers don't stand up to the music industry on this one, I shudder to think what would come next. Hopefully, the backlash on Sony will be powerful enough to make all the other companies think twice if they've been considering anything similar. *crosses fingers*
A nice little class action lawsuit for installing spyware might make a good start...
