Holiday parties - bah, humbug...
Dec. 25th, 2004 09:30 pmSurvived the Christmas Eve family get-together with my dad's side of the family. Survived this morning's brunch with my brother and his wife. Ducked out of this evening's "eat-up-the-leftovers" get-together with the same bunch from last night & had to listen to the whole "what are you going to do, spend the next week sitting in front of the computer" grousing from the folks. Now dreading tomorrow's Boxing Day get-together with my mom's side of the family. *groan*
I hate this part of the holiday season.
On the bright side, I've spent all afternoon getting website updates finally taken care of. Unfortunately, uploading just over 1 Meg of files is currently showing an estimated completion time of 20 hours and counting. Argh!
And the muse is still being decidedly fickle. So far, I've got three attempts at my fic for the Yaoi Wedding Ficathon, all in varying stages of completion, all of which I am distinctly - not happy - with. I've also got semi-complete Christmas fics for Sentinel and GW, plus my New Year's fic for the Holiday Series, all sitting here with only a few lines each to show for the past couple of weeks. Blech. Hopefully the muse gets more cooperative soon; I'm off all week for the holidays & I'm going to be very unhappy if I don't get any writing accomplished.
On a lighter note, techie folks may get a laugh or two out of Switch to Linux - assuming they haven't already seen it, that is. I've linked to the "normal" animation size but there's a "small" and two larger sizes available from the menu on the page's left if the normal version doesn't suit. There's a number of other amusing little productions on the site, like The Spaminatrix (okay, so it was created as an advertising gimmick, that doesn't change the fact that it's worth a few snickers) and Intellitoast
And for folks who are sick of watching "It's a Wonderful Life" for the twentieth time in the past few days... Go forth and enjoy Stone Trek - it's Star Trek done Flintstones style.
Err, you'll need the Flash player and a decent net connection to view the above-mentioned animations...
Hmm, still stuck at 6.3% complete... *sighs and kills FTP process* I'll try uploading my site updates again later. For now, it's back to coaxing the muse...
