Ack. What is it with me and crossovers lately? Not to mention me and writing short things, especially in the HP fandom. Anything else, I get to write a few paragraphs of some monster-length plot, but HP, I get to write drabbles and ficlets. *pokes muse*

Err, and what's with the gen ficlet bunnies? *pokes muse again*

"Hello! You've reached the Goddess Helpline. I will visit you for a consultation."

Harry froze, receiver in hand. He'd only been trying to dust the telephone, not dial a number! Aunt Petunia was going to be furious; he'd be lucky to get out of the cupboard for a week! He didn't even want to think about Uncle Vernon's reaction if someone from a 'Goddess Helpline' showed up; he was pretty sure that goddesses would count as 'freaky stuff'. "No, no, please don't visit," he whispered desperately into the phone. "It was an accident; I didn't mean to call..." The dialtone told him that it was too late. The other person had already hung up. Well, maybe she wouldn't know where to find him; she hadn't asked him for his address.

The mirror above the telephone stand began to glow. Harry dropped the receiver and backed up a few steps, wide-eyed. The crash of the falling phone brought Uncle Vernon into the room, shouting angrily about his clumsiness. Harry ignored him as the head of a beautiful young woman emerged from the shimmering mirror.

"Good morning, Harry Potter," the woman chirped cheerfully.

Uncle Vernon bellowed, "Petunia! Petunia, get in here! The freak's doing something strange!"

Despite an instinctive flinch at his uncle's roar, Harry smiled shyly at the woman. For some reason, just being near her made him feel warm and safe and happy. "Hello."

The rest of the woman's body floated free of the mirror. With a single graceful gesture, she surrounded Harry and herself with a protective field; wish contracts were strictly between the assigned goddess and the lucky recipient. No one else was allowed to interfere. Hovering several inches above the floor, she introduced herself. "I am Belldandy, a goddess. My job is to rescue people in distress. People like you, Harry."

It sounded too good to be true but, with Belldandy smiling so softly and sweetly at him, Harry just had to hope it might be true. "Rescue me? Really?"

Belldandy floated closer to him, kneeling in mid-air so that they were eye-to-eye. "I can give you whatever you truly desire - but you only get one wish, Harry, so think about it very carefully."

"Any wish?" he asked hopefully. “The car crash... My mummy and daddy...”

"Almost any wish," Belldandy corrected herself, her smile turning slightly sad. "I’m sorry, Harry, I cannot bring back the dead."

"Oh," Harry said quietly, his shoulders drooping in disappointment. He wasn't quite sure how Belldandy could rescue him if she couldn't bring back his parents to take him away from the Dursleys.

“Boy! Whatever you’re doing, stop it at once, you vile, wicked creature!” Cringing, Harry flung a protective arm over his head in response to the shrill shriek. When the expected blow did not fall, he hesitantly peeked towards the direction from which the cry had come. A blue-tinged, faintly glowing, glass-like wall separated him from his furious aunt and uncle.

Belldandy gave the irate woman a mildly rebuking glance before returning her gaze to the small child before her. “You’ve done nothing wrong, Harry,” she reassured him gently, reaching out to touch his shoulder. He flinched away from the contact and Belldandy directed a displeased glare towards both of his relatives before dropping to her knees, skirt pooling around her on the floor. No child should fear touch. Especially the touch of a goddess. Opening her arms in welcome, she coaxed, “Come here, child. Let Auntie Bell hold you while you tell her what you want.”

Slowly, Harry edged towards the pretty young woman. He could almost *feel* the warmth and goodness surrounding her; despite his hard-learned caution, he was drawn to her like a moth to a flame. The closer he got to her, the safer and happier he felt. By the time that her arms closed around him - *him*, the good-for-nothing freak! - one thought filled his mind. Snuggling into the first tender embrace that he could remember ever receiving, he closed his eyes and sighed wistfully, “I wish you really were my auntie and I could stay with you forever ‘n’ ever.”

Immediately, a breeze sprang up out of nowhere. Harry’s eyes opened in surprise as his too-big clothing stirred in its swirling force. A brilliant glow surrounded Belldandy as her pooled skirt began to ripple and, as a beam of blue light shot upward from a blue marking on her forehead, she floated into the air until her hair brushed the ceiling, Harry still held securely in her arms. An unearthly chime sounded and the lance of light flared so brightly that Harry had to close his eyes once more.

Gazing down at the child nestled in her arms, Belldandy murmured in slight bemusement, “Oh my. I hope that Keiichi likes children.”

*Note: in case anyone doesn't recognize the other series, OMG! (aka AMG!) is Oh (Ah!) My Goddess! (Japanese title: Aa! Megami-sama!). Wikipedia has a decent explanation of the series here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oh_My_Goddess%21
