'It is possible that we could use this technology to make eggs from stem cells created from a man's skin cells,' said Moore. 'Thus technology could help gay men have babies, though obviously a fertilised egg created this way would have to be carried to term by a woman. It would have the genetic make-up of its two male "parents".'

Of course, the article then goes on to add that, of course, that is not the true purpose of the research - it's supposed to help infertile "traditional" couples. And the possible alternative usage is raising red flags with certain segments of society.

But all of a sudden, those "two guys have a kid who shares the DNA of both, just like the child of a het couple" slash and yaoi stories have become infinitely more plausible... Like as in, possible within the next two to four years, according to one scientist, while another is making a more conservative five to ten year estimate.
